My name is Eliana Dunlap. I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago, IL, USA. When people ask me to describe what I do, I never know what to say. I often struggle to find the right words. But for you I’ll give it a try. Ever since I can remember, I've felt a deep urge to create. Art is how I try to make sense of the world because, let’s be real, most of the time it doesn’t make sense. I often use my art as an outlet for processing and expressing the things I don’t have words for, perhaps that’s why I find it difficult to talk about.
I am a circus artist by profession, but my artistic passions extend to visual art, music and anything I can sink my creative teeth into. I like to mix mediums. I like to search for and examine the things around me and inside of me that coexist despite being at odds with one another. I’m moved by things that contradict themselves, that are bittersweet, that shouldn’t fit together but somehow manage to do so harmoniously. This reflects how I want the world to be. We don’t need to agree, we just need to coexist harmoniously. Searching for and cultivating that kind of coexistence in my art is my small way of working towards that world.
So that’s my two cents. If you’ve got a project that you think I’d be a good fit for or that you’d like to collaborate on, please let me know.
